Professional Bull Riding @ Key Arena

Seattle's Key Arena has hosted tons of events ranging from high profile concerts to sporting events, but never before has it been coated with dirt for bulls to stampede on.  Well all that changed last weekend, when Professional Bull Riders, Inc (PBR) took over.  Nearly 40 cowboys from all over the world took their shots at riding bucking bulls, aiming for the 8 second landmark

Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Chaos Tour

Motocross itself is a thrilling sport, but that's nothing compared to the explosiveness of Nuclear Cowboyz.  In early April, the Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Chaos Tour made a stop in Washington at the Tacoma Dome, bringing with them the pyrotechnics and crazy stunts that have made them famous. This all star team features world renowned freestyle motocross riders, including Adam Jones, Ronnie Faisst, Mike Mason, Taka

Emerald City Comicon 2011

It was that time of year again! Time for the annual Emerald City Comicon to take place at the Washington State Convention Center.  Hundreds (maybe even thousands) flocked to downtown Seattle to visit vendors, interact with their favorite comic book artists and publishers, attend celebrity panels, and have their photos taken with the handfuls of costumed characters running around.  From superheroes like Batman and Quail

Built for Man Fashion Show

Built for Man debuted its 2011/12 line of men's fashion in Capitol Hill at the Ferrari and Maserati dealership on 12th Avenue on the evening of February 22.  Guests as swanky as the cars and models inhabited the ritzy space for a quick 30 minute showing ofFrancisco Hernandez's latest line.  This was my first-ever attempt at shooting a fashion show, and although the models walked

Seattle Police Department Protests

On the night of Friday, February 18, I was lounging at home in Capitol Hill when my Twitter feed caught wind of Seattle Police Department (SPD) protests raging in downtown.  These were all in resistance to police brutality, with a particular focus on the recent decision to not prosecute former SPD officer Ian Birk in the shooting of homeless Native American woodcarver John T. Williams.

Rat City Rollergirls – Bout 2

Seattle's own all-women, flat-tracked roller derby league, Rat City Rollergirls, took over Key Arena for their second bout of the season, this time taking on the Rose City Rollers from Portland.  The bout lasted several hours, with both teams playing hard.  More photos on Flickr, and the full gallery on Seattlest.

Steampunk Exhibition Ball 2011

Steampunk, a subgenre of alternate history and science fiction, is one of the more bizarre yet visually striking events to happen in Seattle that I had no clue existed until I was invited to cover the Steampunk Exhibition Ball for The Stranger.  This year's annual event was held at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) in Montlake, and it featured heavily costumed attendees, burlesque,

Video Games Live: Bonus Round

More photos on Flickr; full article on Seattlest. Yes, there is such a phenomenon known as Video Games Live (VGL), and no, you don't have to be a child to be entertained.  In fact, I daresay adults will chuckle and grin more often than young ones will.  The idea for VGL was conceived back in 2005, as a show based on a live orchestra playing

Monster Jam 2011

This past weekend, Advance Auto Parts brought the Monster Jam truck rally to the Tacoma Dome. Prior to Saturday's back-to-back shows, fans had the chance to participate in the Party in the Pits special, where fans could collect autographs and photos with the superstar trucks and their drivers. Twelve nationally-touring trucks made appearances, including the highly-acclaimed Grave Digger and Superman. Special appearances were also made
