The third annual SteamCon went down at the Hyatt Regency, Bellevue, WA during the weekend of October 16.  Costumed Steampunk aficionados filled the conference rooms of the hotel for three days straight, relishing in each others' elaborate outfits and attending various forums.  Check out all the costumes at Metromix Seattle, with more photos on Flickr!

Photos: Fremont Oktoberfest 2011

The annual Fremont Oktoberfest went down from September 23-25 in Seattle, WA bringing out tons of people for samplings of beer, pretzels, and other German fare.  Quite possibly the most 'fun' spectacles included the chainsaw pumpkin carving, 5K run, and CityDog Magazine's dog modeling contest.  Some fun stats via Fremont Universe: 20,000 people gathered in the Tasting Garden to taste over 100 beers. 5,000 guests

Jockstraps and Glitter Kickball Fundraiser

Jockstraps and Glitter. That was the theme of last weekend's fundraiser kickball tournament that pitted the Seattle Quake Rugby team against The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The game, which raises money for both groups by encouraging the audience to participate by buying bribes in favor of a particular team, was a spectacle that raised both money and laughs. Gay Pride in Seattle 2011

This past weekend was dedicated to gay pride in Seattle, firing off on Saturday with a festival on Broadway and a Dyke March in the neighborhood of Capitol Hill, and culminating in the downtown Pride Parade on Sunday afternoon.  It was colorful, fun, and well, gay. Avatar: The Exhibition Opens in Seattle

The first weekend of June saw the long-awaited grand opening of blockbuster film Avatar's exhibition at Seattle's Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM).  Festivities began Friday afternoon with a blue carpet event that welcomed the likes of actors Laz Alonso, Giovanni Ribisi, and director James Cameron himself.  The next day, back-to-back panels allowed Avatar fans to listen in on discussion panels with actors

Jamie Von Stratton @ The Lucky Diner

Local Seattle fashion designer Jamie Von Stratton's newest project was to design the uniforms for the Justin Mev's new The Lucky Diner of Belltown.  The uniforms are sassy and of the 50's style, which Von Stratton modeled in a shoot at the diner before its grand opening.
