Bumbershoot 2011, Seattle's annual Labor Day weekend music and arts festival, went down at the Seattle Center this year with a new approach.  Not only was the layout changed, but the lineup strategy also differed in that there were more bands to see, many of them from the Pacific Northwest.  Three days straight of entertainment saw the likes of Charles Bradley, Fitz and the Tantrums,

Jockstraps and Glitter Kickball Fundraiser

Jockstraps and Glitter. That was the theme of last weekend's fundraiser kickball tournament that pitted the Seattle Quake Rugby team against The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The game, which raises money for both groups by encouraging the audience to participate by buying bribes in favor of a particular team, was a spectacle that raised both money and laughs. The founder of the game, Jon Krumbah,

Photos: LA Rising – Raging in LA with Rage Against the Machine

On July 30, I had the pleasure of photographing LA Rising (Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Rise Against, Miss Lauryn Hill, et al) in Los Angeles, CA.  Check out the published gallery on Verbicide Magazine. There are very few bands I'll travel to another state to go see.  Rage Against the Machine (RATM) happens to be one of them.  The day tickets for the show,

Gay Pride in Seattle 2011

This past weekend was dedicated to gay pride in Seattle, firing off on Saturday with a festival on Broadway and a Dyke March in the neighborhood of Capitol Hill, and culminating in the downtown Pride Parade on Sunday afternoon.  It was colorful, fun, and well, gay. Photos up on Flickr and on Capitol Hill Seattle Blog. Like what you see? Work with me! More info

Professional Bull Riding @ Key Arena

Seattle's Key Arena has hosted tons of events ranging from high profile concerts to sporting events, but never before has it been coated with dirt for bulls to stampede on.  Well all that changed last weekend, when Professional Bull Riders, Inc (PBR) took over.  Nearly 40 cowboys from all over the world took their shots at riding bucking bulls, aiming for the 8 second landmark

Emerald City Comicon 2011

It was that time of year again! Time for the annual Emerald City Comicon to take place at the Washington State Convention Center.  Hundreds (maybe even thousands) flocked to downtown Seattle to visit vendors, interact with their favorite comic book artists and publishers, attend celebrity panels, and have their photos taken with the handfuls of costumed characters running around.  From superheroes like Batman and Quail
