Frito pie, or a walking taco, is a beloved cheap treat for many Americans. Huxley Wallace Collective’s new bar and bottle shop Cantine takes this classic dish and elevates it to a much more sumptuous level, featuring all house-made ingredients. Take a look at the cooking process below, featuring the Frito chips made from fried pasta, house-made chili, and pickled onions.

While Cantine is no longer, the idea of the made from scratch Frito pie is still a glorious one. So how do you make one? Start with homemade chili. Then make your own Frito chips via thin corn pasta, fried of course. Top those chips with chili, sour cream, jalapenos, and all the toppings you desire. There you have it!

This has to do mainly with the fact that I can get my gear immediately serviced as a member of Canon Professional Services (CPS), and the fact that DSLRs are still the industry standard among most (but definitely not all) pros who shoot concerts and corporate events. Sea Wolf Bakery officially has a brick and mortar spot now open in Fremont. Originally founded in 2014 by brothers Kit and Jesse Schumann, the bakery thrived despite not having a retail front. Renowned for gorgeous artisan loaves of rye and sourdough breads, Sea Wolf has been a supplier to many fine dining restaurants in Seattle. This operation will continue, but now the brothers can serve their own curated selection of freshly baked bread, pastries, coffee, and even cheese plates in their 3621 Stone Way North location. They’re adjacent to Manolin, and other popular eateries including Joule and the Whale Wins (across the street).

Seattle and Bellevue’s premiere cupcake bakery now has a swanky new outpost: Cafe Trophy! Located on the ground floor of The Bravern shopping center in downtown Bellevue, Cafe Trophy features the popular sweets of Trophy Cupcake as well as many more lavish temptations. Consider an expanded pastry menu consisting of delicate fruit tortes, an array of colorful French-style macarons (in 10+ flavors!), croissants, and cannelles. 190 Sunset is a snazzy new restaurant that just opened at the Salish Crossing retail development in Edmonds. Located not far from the Edmonds ferry terminal, the spacious restaurant features three distinct dining areas. There’s a large dining room with bar area that seats 220 people, a private dining room for 70 people, and a large outdoor patio with fire pits.With Executive Chef Clive Gomez at the helm of the kitchen, 190 Sunset’s menu is very diverse with options ranging from steaks and salmon to burgers and sushi.

Ice cream is even more delicious when it’s (somewhat) healthy! Seattle Cookie Counter is one of few places in town where you can get scoops of vegan ice cream. Newly opened in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle, the ice cream joint specializes in individual scoops of a rotating menu, as well as ice cream sandwiches featuring house-made cookies and ice cream floats, to name a few. In case you’re wondering, the ice cream is vegan due to the use of coconut milk in place of dairy.

Tarsan i Jane is one of Seattle’s hottest new restaurants for inquisitive and adventurous eaters. Chef Perfecte Rocher and his partner Alia Zaine are at the helm of the Fremont-based pop-up restaurant that specializes in Valencian and Catalonian fare. Beyond those distinctions, the rest of the menu at Tarsan i Jane is completely up in the air, limited only by seasonal ingredients and Rocher’s imagination. The only constant item on the menu is the rave-worthy Sunday night paella. Other than that, menu offerings are purely pre-fixe chef’s choice with optional wine pairings, and each dish is visually stunning. Sample dishes that could appear include foraged mushrooms with celery root and a soft boiled egg, blood sausage with carrot guacamole, or beet gazpacho with citrus cava foam.

Located at 4012 Leary Way Northwest. Tasting menu is available Thursday thru Saturday from 6pm to 10pm, while the paella menu is offered every Sunday from 11am to 3pm. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 206-557-7059.
