Green Day is one of those bands whose music feels increasingly relevant as time goes on. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a decade since their album “American Idiot” came out. Yet the songs and lyrics feel so relatable today. In support of their 2016 album, “Revolution Radio,” Billie Joe Armstrong and the band came to White River Amphitheater in Auburn.

From the moment they took the stage, the vibe was electrifying. Billie Joe was among the most dynamic performers I’ve ever photographed. He was fueled by an ecstatic crowd who all but sang most of the hits for him all night long. Speaking of the hits, the setlist was full of them. There were songs from all Green Day albums, both new and old, and a double encore to top the night off. Check outt he setlist and select concert photos from the night below.

Redhook Brewlab on Capitol Hill

Redhook Brewery recently opened a new pub and cafe concept Redhook Brewlab in a brand new space on Capitol Hill. The rather fancy space features the building’s original brick and timber and even has two outdoor patios. Two bars are in the space, each with 16 taps each. On tap is a rotating list of seasonal ales. All brews are made in small batches. Samples of beers that could be available include tangerine IPA, raspberry saison and more.

Infatuation Seattle Launch

In June 2017, The Infatuation celebrated its launch in Seattle with a series of food events around town. One such event was a hosted lunch at The London Plane in Pioneer Square. The event was sponsored in part by Delta, and there was lots of complementary branded swag. All attendees were treated to a multi-course lunch with cocktails, and this definitely drew a long line!

Jet City Rosé Experience

This summer, the first annual Jet City Rosé Experience went down in Georgetown. Held at Charles Smith Wines Jet City, the sold-out event featured rosé wine tastings as well as a food truck extravaganza. After the food wrapped up, the music by John Doe and Wanda Jackson with the Dusty 45s topped off the afternoon. All in all, the rose-colored event was so much fun to photograph! Civility & Unrest and The Lakehouse

Lincoln Square Expansion is Bellevue’s latest luxury shopping center to open in downtown. Within the shiny new building is a brand new W Bellevue hotel and two restaurants helmed by James Beard Award-winning Chef Jason Wilson.

On the upper level, The Lakehouse is in the concept of Northwst farmhouse. This bright, clean interior feels very much like you’re sitting in an intimate lake house. Head downstairs, and if you know where to look, you’ll stumble upon a speakeasy. Civility & Unrest specializes in craft cocktails with a small bites menu by Wilson.

Chera’s Hood Famous Ube Cheesecake

Ube cheesecake has been taking Seattle by storm. Its inventor is Chera Amlag, a baker who specializes in Filipino sweets in Seattle. Chera’s Hood Famous Ube Cheesecake is available at the Hood Famous Bakeshop in Ballard. Some select stores such as Uwajimaya also carry it.

Recently, I swung by the bakeshop to see how the purple cheesecake is made. Take a look at some behind-the-scenes process shots below!

Iconic Lake Bellevue Japanese restaurant I Love Sushi recently launched a new food delivery menu. They needed food photography images for their website and marketing materials, so we worked together this summer on a batch of images. Dishes included classic sushi rolls, bento boxes, and other Japanese style salads. Photos were shot on both plain black and plain white backgrounds to match the company’s design.

Navy Strength

Move over Hula Hula! There’s a new tiki bar in town. Dubbed Navy Strength, this tiki bar is located in Belltown. It’s below a corporate looking building, but don’t let outward appearances deceive you. Once you walk through the doors, you’ll feel transported to a much warmer place. I absolutely loved all of the design touches in Navy Strength and went crazy with interior photos. Take a look inside the new Seattle tiki bar below!

One of the most iconic Pike Place Market restaurants in Seattle is The Pink Door, which recently re-opened after a three-month closure. Owner Jacke Roberts decided to remodel the restaurant to expand its footprint into a neighboring space. The result is a stunningly large restaurant space that retains its original bar and dining room while adding a new space with an impressive view of the sea and mountains. Thankfully, much of the space’s original quirky charm is retained including the burlesque performance space.

Looking for a taste of modern Valencian cuisine in Seattle? Look no further than Tarsan i Jane. This contemporary eatery is headed by husband and wife team Perfecte Rocher and Alia Zaine. It’s located in the Frelard neighborhood in Seattle. Since opening in 2016, Chef Rocher leads the kitchen in cooking his native Valencian-Catalan cuisine, with a Pacific Northwest spin. The restaurant is open four days a week from Thursday to Sunday, with the latter day focusing on Rocher’s famous paella.

I have had the honor of working with Perfecte and Alia to photograph select dishes (the first photo shoot can be seen here). Below is a photo gallery from the Spring 2017 menu.
