It’s hard to believe that Rihanna has been performing for nearly a decade now. Going through her catalogue in preparation for seeing her live, I’d kind of forgotten just how many hit songs Rihanna had, and just how many I knew all the words to. From her first hit “Pon de Replay” in 2005, to “Umbrella” in 2008, to “S&M” in 2010 to 2012’s “Diamonds,” there are a ton of Rihanna songs that I’ve been listening to for years.

When Rihanna’s show at Key Arena arrived this past week, it took a while for the show to get going (several hours behind schedule), which made it interesting to have to stand outside near the guard shack for close to an hour. That hour brought its own memorable moments, including watching the opener A$AP Rocky roll in with a huge black SUV, whereas Rihanna arrived in an ordinary, small blue sedan. Also witnessing Macklemore try to enter backstage and have the security guard insist he keep his distance (until A$AP Rocky arrived to let him in).

Rihanna’s show proved a challenge to shoot, as it was a soundboard shoot made more challenging beyond distance due to the fact that everyone in front stood up and blocked the view for those of us without stools. Still, lots of photo-worthy moments from the show in the gallery below, as well as on Flickr.

Also, thanks to People magazine for picking up my Rihanna photo!
