I first saw and photographed Ellie Goulding live at SXSW 2011, back when she was a breakout singer-songwriter fresh off the release of Lights. On Monday night, I photographed her again at a sold out show at the Showbox SoDo here in Seattle. This time, she was hardly unknown. The audience was screaming for Goulding long before she took the stage, and many times they sang along with her. Since 2011, Goulding has enjoyed mass success off the title track from her 2011 album Lights, as well as mainstream success with her 2012 album Halycon and hit single “Anything Could Happen.” She was also garnered some press while dating Skrillex last year, but Goulding is famous in her own right as Monday’s sold out show illustrated.
