Star Trek is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and Seattle’s EMP Museum is joining in on the festivities with its newest exhibit, Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds. Ahead of its May 21st opening to the public, the EMP hosted a special Landing Party featuring special guests Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) and Brent Spiner (Data), from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The sold out party was full of fans, many donning tributary costumes, as well as two feisty Klingons who made many photo appearances throughout the evening. The exhibit itself is fully immersive, featuring over 100 props from all five Star Trek television series, its spin-offs, and films. Special features include Captain Kirk’s original command chair (displayed publicly for the first time), original costumes of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, and McCoy, and the 6-foot U.S.S. Enterprise model used for the filming of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The special exhibit is currently on display at the EMP Musuem located at 325 5th Avenue North; the museum is open daily from 10:00am-5:00pm.
