2013 was an interesting and semi-transitional year photo-wise, as it included more “photos for business” than “photos for fun,” although certainly fun was had in all events! I added 2.0 terrabytes worth of data to my already full hard drives, which is pretty crazy. It took a while just to sort through all of the data, not to mention attempt to recap and pull out favorite images. Despite the time consuming nature of doing comprehensive recaps like this, I do this photo recap here on the blog every year, as I think it’s an important exercise to do periodically. It’s great for sentimental and business purposes, just to remember in numbers and visuals all of the things that were accomplished. Without further ado, here’s my recap of most of the photos I’ve snapped throughout 2013.
Concerts: 31
There were a LOT of bucket list bands this year, namely those from my teen/college years: Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Paul McCartney, Fall Out Boy, and Michael Bublé. Also some great performances by favorites such as Gogol Bordello, Joshua Radin, Alkaline Trio, P!nk, Steve Aoki, and of course, Macklemore.
Hands down the best concert moment of the year though happened at my favorite music festival: Killer Mike at Sasquatch when he took the stage, and the swell of emotion that took over his face as he was overcome with shock and joy. Amazing.

A whirlwind year of new restaurant activity and some huge improvements I made in my architectural and interior photography techniques. I haven’t been this in love with architecture since my college art history days.

Travels: 7
I made my first trip to Mexico, but other than that, no other exotic international locations. I did have a great time discovering more of the USA by going on my first Alaska cruise, and rediscovering places such as Austin and the Oregon Coast. The most important journeys of the year were my trips back home to Hawaii to spend time with family and my new nephew, Xylen. I spent a total of 6 weeks in Hawaii this year, the longest stretch of time since my college days, and I’m eternally grateful for the time I was able to have.
