Last night, the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg took the Showbox SoDo by storm by performing his hits all night long. Snoop was fresh off of an appearance next door at Century Link field where he watched the Seahawks’ last preseason game, showing up in a Seahawks jersey. Following a stint in Portland when Snoop reportedly took the stage 2 hours late, he was surprisingly on time at last night’s show, taking the stage at almost exactly 10:00pm. Right before he arrived, there was a little bit of chaos up front as Duane Dog Chapman showed up and the bouncers received some mixed notices from Snoop’s management. First, we were told Snoop wasn’t allowing any photography–surprising, but not unheard of to be kicked out of the pit at the last minute. Luckily, the notice was quickly revised to say we just couldn’t shoot from the middle of the pit, meaning we had to pick a side and stay on it. Not ideal, but not the worst situation either.
I happened to choose stage left, which turned out to be a decent choice considering Snoop holds his microphone with his right hand. The stage was actually well lit for the first three songs, and the pit was large enough that even from the sides, we had enough room to maneuver and get some slightly different angles.
