Franz Ferdinand is one of those bands that has been pretty influential in my formative years. Their first self-titled album came out in 2004, the year I first moved to Washington state to attend college, and I remember my freshman year roommate blasting their album over and over again. As an islander addicted to jawaiian (Hawaiian reggae) and R&B music, Franz Ferdinand’s indie rock tunes were foreign to my ears, but I took a quick liking to the British indie rockers and have followed their music ever since. The first time I saw British indie rockers Franz Ferdinand perform was at Bumbershoot when I attended as a fan. There was an incredibly huge mosh pit that started in the crowd and I had the displeasure of being smack dab in the middle of it. I remember leaving covered in bruises and sweat and a huge grin on my face, loving the experience as whole. I saw Franz Ferdinand again a few years later as a photographer at Outside Lands where they played the main stage and again last night when they headlined a sold out live at the Showbox SoDo. No mosh pit this time around, but some fabulous photo opportunities despite less than ideal lighting. Scroll down to see some of my favorite shots from the night, with more available here.
