This is a story of doomed love. On Sunday, try Seattle woman Babylonia Aivaz wed a warehouse in the Capitol Hill neighborhood as a show of anti-gentrification. Aivaz is an Occupy Seattle protester who fell in love with the community space which is now being bulldozed to make way for a new apartment complex. The eclectic ceremony was held outdoors in the rain, as the warehouse was fenced off. Children blew bubbles while a “minister” led the exchange of vows and the crowd began singing “Lean on Me.” See photos of the event below with more on Flickr and full coverage on Capitol Hill Seattle.
