Photos: Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival 2013

Photos from another spectacular weekend of the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, WA. Highlights this year for me included Gary Numan (who did me the honor of Tweeting out two of my shots), Redd Kross, Death Cab for Cutie playing Transatlanticism, Baroness, Matt and Kim, and The Joy Formidable. Photos this year were shot for The Stranger, Consequence of Sound, and Prefix Magazine. Check

Photos: Snoop Lion (Snoop Dogg)

Last night, the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg took the Showbox SoDo by storm by performing his hits all night long. Snoop was fresh off of an appearance next door at Century Link field where he watched the Seahawks' last preseason game, showing up in a Seahawks jersey. Following a stint in Portland when Snoop reportedly took the stage 2 hours late, he was

Photos: Whalewatching with Real Housewives of Miami’s Adriana De Moura

Among the most fun days of a freelance photographer is the opportunity to travel and take photos. When I was contacted about the possibility of photographing Real Housewives of Miami star Adriana De Moura in Seattle, I assumed it would be a quick and simple fashion shoot, probably at her hotel at the Four Seasons. The last thing I was expecting was to spend the

Photos: Tiffany Derry and Art Institute of Seattle Event

Last week, I was honored to be welcomed back to the W Seattle to photograph another fantastic event. It was quite a departure from last year's Symmetry Live event with LP with a feel more akin to the RN74 Seattle anniversary dinner I photographed last May. The evening's shot list included coverage of the scholarship award announcements, which commended two lucky students from the Art Institute

Photos: Samish Bay and Bow-Edison Weekend Road Trip

Looking for a quick trip out of town for less than a day? Consider Samish Bay! Last weekend, I found myself skimming through a hard copy of Seattle Weekly, something I haven't done in ages. Naturally, the food & drink section  caught and held my attention the longest, mostly because of one article whose headline made me start drooling. "Quest for the Perfect (Oyster) Picnic: A

Photos: Summer Lightning Storm in Seattle

The benefit to starting photo editing of a night's work at 12 midnight is the rare chance to see and shoot an epic thunder and lightning show that illuminated Seattle's sky late Friday night/early Saturday morning. Beginning shortly after midnight, I could see the lightning streaks bolt through the sky out of the corner of my eye as I was working in PhotoShop. Finally, my

Photos: Fitz and the Tantrums

It's been almost exactly a year since I photographed Fitz and the Tantrums on the opening day of Outside Lands 2012 in San Francisco. At that point, I'd photographed them at least 3 times throughout the year, having seen them at Sasquatch and at various other shows and festivals around the Pacific Northwest. But Fitz and the Tantrums is one of those bands that you

Photos: Gogol Bordello

When Gogol Bordello comes to town, there's no excuse to NOT see them. The gypsy punk rockers are touring in celebration of their sixth album,  Pura Vida Conspiracy, all in spite of a recent lawsuit brought forth against frontman Eugene Hütz by a former bandmate. No legal troubles or any negativity for that matter were evident in Gogol Bordello's party of a performance at Seattle's

Photos: Capitol Hill Block Party 2013

Over the weekend, the annual Capitol Hill Block Party went down in Seattle's hipster neighborhood. This year's lineup was an eclectic mix of artists, featuring EDM, hip-hop, and indie rock, among many others. Headliners this year included Girl Talk, local favorites Pickwick, and The Flaming Lips.

Photos: Sir Paul McCartney and Nirvana

Last night, Sir Paul McCartney played the first-ever concert ever held at Seattle's Safeco Field, home of the Mariners baseball team. The sold out show was part of McCartney's "Out There" tour and seated approximately 45,000 fans who sang, danced, and marveled before McCartney, whose set list included many Beatles hits. Perhaps the highlight of the show was the encore which brought out the surviving
