Photos: Salt and Straw Ballard

At long last, Salt and Straw has touched down in Seattle! The Portland-based ice cream chain has opened its first of two locations in the Emerald City. Store number one in Ballard is also the larger of the two. Spacious with gorgeous wood features including a bright outdoor mural, this ice cream shop is both warm and inviting. On the menu, Salt and Straw offers

When you think of Beecher's, visions of their delicious mac and cheese probably comes to mind. But did you know that there is also the Beecher's Foundation? It exists with the intention to build a better food future for all. The Seattle-based foundation puts on lots of programming including educational classes for youth and adults. These classes seek to teach not only cooking skills but also facts

Hitchcock Restaurant Refresh

If ever you need a reason to visit Bainbridge Island, let Chef Brendan McGill give you several. First, his pizzeria Bruciato is worth visiting not only for the pizza but the melt-in-your-mouth pannacotta as well. Second, Hitchcock Deli is second to none when it comes to house-made charcuterie and condiments. And finally, Hitchcock Restaurant, the one that started it all, just received a new facelift courtesy of Brendan

Photos: Wing Dome Order Online

One of the best places to get buffalo wings in Seattle is definitely The Wing Dome. In an effort to make it even easier and faster for customers to pick up their orders, Wing Dome has been pushing their online ordering system, especially ahead of big events such as the Super Bowl. We did a photo shoot at their Greenwood spot to highlight new Order

As Seattle continues to grow and expand, that effect has also carried over across the lake to Bellevue. Beginning with the opening of the Lincoln Square Expansion, restaurants such as Jason Wilson's heavy-hitters Lakehouse and Civility and Unrest were unveiled first. Finally, the highly anticipated Lincoln South Food Hall was unveiled at the end of 2017. This glitzy new project showcases seven fast-casual eateries all

Taste Washington

One of Washington's best food festivals is Taste Washington. This annual multi-day event takes place across many iconic venues in Seattle such as AQUA by El Gaucho, the Four Seasons Hotel, and CenturyLink Event Center. I've attended many times in the past and always enjoyed eating and drinking my way through the Grand Tasting. It's a great way to connect with chefs and winemakers from

Among the hottest food trends to hit Seattle and Bellevue is that of macarons and champagne. Lady Yum specializes in both, offering the treats in a comfortable yet fancy environment in Bellevue. Recently, Lady Yum expanded west to Seattle. It's located at the base of one of Amazon's newest corporate offices, near 2120 Restaurant. The brand new Lady Yum corner space is a bit small.

Heartwood Provisions Fall 2017 Menu

One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle is Heartwood Provisions. With an emphasis on food dishes paired with cocktails, the menu at Heartwood is ever-changing. There's always new, seasonal dishes to taste and photograph. Last fall we photographed a variety of items. The Fall 2017 menu has lots of goodies on it including a risotto, crab pasta, and grilled chicken thighs. Take a look at

Fletcher’s Meats

Some of the best meats you'll find in Seattle grocery stores come from Fletcher's. This Washington-based company specializes in a wide variety of meats including sausages, hot dogs, hams, and bacon. This summer, I did a few photo shoots with Fletcher's products. One was a standard product shoot on a white backdrop. The other two were styled food shoots with Fletcher's products: cheese dip with

Cocktail Photos for Highball Week

This summer, The Stranger ran a series of 15 speciality cocktails for $5 each. The campaign was called Highball Week and it included drink specials from the likes of The Carlile Room, Dumpling Tzar, Bar Ciudad, and much more. As a photography assignment, it was a fun challenge to shoot a variety of cocktails in settings all around Seattle. Check out some of the cocktail
