Sex, drugs, and rock and roll were certainly the themes of the 1970’s and the main focus of HBO’s newest music industry drama, Vinyl. Set to debut publicly on February 14th, Seattleites were treated to a sneak peek of the pilot episode hosted by HBO last night at the Cinerama theater, where they also premiered an episode of Game of Thrones a few years ago. The swanky event saw a packed house of fans, including actors Jack Quaid and Juno Temple making a red carpet appearance.

The 2 hour pilot episode at times feels almost like a full length movie in and of itself, which isn’t surprising considering its Executive Producers are Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, and Terence Winter. From start to finish, the 2 hour episode is surreal roller coaster ride as it chronicles the rise and fall of beleaguered record label executive Richie Finestra (played by Bobby Cannavale). Set in New York City in the year 1973, the episode is chock full of colorful characters that exude many of the stereotypes of the time, including a depiction of Robert Plant. Speaking of real-life celebrities, there are hints that many other pivotal musicians will make appearances in future episodes including David Bowie, Peter Tosh, and Hilly Kristal.

The first season of Vinyl will consist of 10 episodes, with the very first premiering on HBO on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
