Through the Eyes of Art is Seattle’s premier Black History Month celebration. This year’s theme is “The Value of Black Life” and it was held at the EMP Museum. It featured an evening hosted by Seattle City Council member Bruce Harrell, as well as speeches from Jonathan Cunningham, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, and a presentation of theThrough the Eyes of Art Service Award to local activist Eddie Rye Jr. After the program, a concert was put on by local breakout star Draze, and special guest hip-hop heavyweight, Talib Kweli.
